Expensive issues with water on the site compounded by the weak real estate market caused cancellation early in 2009 of the luxury-class all-condos Centuria project. Late in 2010 the Lake Placid Group of Companies resumed construction of the in-ground garage as the builder pursued a change in land use to allow a mixed-use development of a boutique hotel, a two-storey restaurant, and then 24 condo homes on top floors. Meanwhile, original buyers were sent refunds of their deposits and invitations to buy again when new plans were approved by city hall.
 
By mid-2011 construction was reaching the sidewalk level and the builder declared full steam ahead in a Herald news story, with plans for commercial functions dropped and plans calling for a more mass-market building, still of 17 floors, with more and somewhat smaller suites. Of whatever size, the Centuria homes will have a great location between Haultain Park and Central Memorial Park, and fronting onto the soon-to-be Thirteenth Avenue "greenway" pedestrian/cycling corridor through the Beltline.
