Livingstone House

Built as a condominium in 1978, this four-storey frame building with cedar siding sits atop a concrete in-ground single-level parkade and houses 36 suites, eight of which are two-storey homes, and four of those have a loft level open to the main floor. Those two-level places are all at the front of the building, facing north.

Livingstone House is a more complex building than you'd think from a glance. It's more of a "C" shape than a rectangle with an array of floor plans in sizes ranging from 775 square feet to 1,164 square feet. Many suites if not all have a wood-burning fireplace with a natural gas log lighter, and some have been converted to gas-burning fireplaces. Some suites have been completely modernized, while others are in virtually original condition.

The indoor parking is assigned common property. Exterior windows and doors here have been transferred to individual suite owners to maintain and replace. Condo contributions include a cable-tv package. Unit factors are allocated to suites in proportion to their sizes. I have the Condo Plan on file.
