Construction was complete in 2009 on Destiny Condos, a six-storey concrete and brick-clad building of 48 suites with high standards of interior finishing. There are two and a half levels of in-ground parking on the small site, then six floors of eight suites per floor. The building is narrow with only two suites per floor facing the Avenue, with a clever widening part-way down both sides, so all suites have a virtual corner and a corner balcony. One suite is entry-level small at 490 square feet, but of the 48 suites 28 are larger one-bedroom or one-bedroom-plus-den suites, while 20 are two-bedroom homes of 800 to 872 square feet.
The location is lovely with Fourth Street shops, pubs, and restaurants just outside the door and with the Elbow River a block and a half east. All owners will have access to a large roof-top patio which gives views to downtown and Lindsay Park's forest. Suite finishings include standard granite counters, cork or hardwood flooring, in-suite laundry and stainless-steel Bosch appliances, all under nine-foot-high ceilings.
The builder of Destiny Condos was Developments 2 Incorporated--a pair of young Calgary men backed up by local investors and building small developments as well in Okotoks and Lloydminister.
Exterior windows and doors at Destiny are common property for maintenance and eventual replacement. Unit factors are assigned to suites in proportion to their floor areas; titled parking stalls have a UF of one each. I have on file all original floor plans plus the Condominium Plan.
