La Fuente on the Park

These are five spectacular townhouses at 2401, 3, 5, 7 and 9 on First Street SW, built by Timberock Construction in 1999. If you own one of these homes, count your blessings, as you'd likely not afford one of them today.

Backing onto Mission's William Aberhart Park and the garden plots it contains, these homes have no adjacent neighbouring buildings. Two homes on the ends are of three storeys, while the "inside" three homes are of four floors each. Floor areas are huge, with 2,437 square feet being the smallest, and one home measuring 3,209 square feet. From what I can tell, I don't think that even includes the double drive-under garages!

Interior finishings are very high end; multiple fireplaces, bamboo and slate floors, granite countertops and best-quality appliances abound. If ever the term "executive townhouse" was appropriate, this is it. With only five homes, La Fuente ("the fountain") will likely be self-managed with modest condo fees to cover insurance and exterior maintenance. If you want one of these, get in line behind me!

This development is a conventional condominium, so the five homes share ownership of the land and the building exterior and structure, including the exterior windows and doors for maintenance and eventual replacement. I have the Condo Plan on file.
