327 Twentieth Avenue SW, just east of Fourth Street.
Lumiere
Cancelled in 2008, Lumier would have been a lovely five-storey building of 68 suites, with a classy design and glitzy marketing materials issued for pre-sales in October of 2007. Late in 2011 the site was in the hands of Bucci Developments, which proposed a four-storey structural-frame building that would house up to 80 suites, including three-bedroom homes, if prospective buyers want them. Bucci and its architectural firm, NORR, have proposed barrier-free suites for those with disabilities, and garden plots at the building's back, which faces south.
This site--like the entire neighbourhood--has the issue of the "The Pit" next door, as it's known locally; the excavation and foundation for the failed Colonade retail and condos project that spans half a city block. Today The Pit is owned by Strategic Developments, which no doubt will develop a commercial-only project there as soon as the economy makes it viable. We wait and hope.
