Riverstone
Built in 1979, just two years after its neighbour Roxboro House, Riverstone became the next built-as-condos luxury building on the south edge of Mission just across 26 Avenue from the Elbow River.
Here 103 spacious suites enjoy 24-hour front-desk services, an indoor swimming pool, gym, lounge, party room, tennis courts, central air conditioning and indoor visitor parking. Rising 17 floors, many suites enjoy terrific views to downtown or of the Elbow River Valley and points east or west. The staggered layout of the building creates nine corners, rather than the four of a rectangle, so most suites have views in two directions. While few suites have balconies, those that do have very large roof-top decks as the upper floors step back from those below on the south face. With the air conditioning, amenities and outdoor gardens this building offers, balconies might have seemed unnecessary.
Under the building there are 196 titled parking stalls, with the surplus allowing many suites to own a pair. In recent years the lobby and other common areas have been modernized, leaving behind the 1980s stuffy if luxurious hotel look. Artistic yet homey, the Riverstone today presents an updated face and offers large suites ranging from 1,150 to 3,143 square feet.
Exterior windows and doors at Riverstone are common property for maintenance and eventual replacement. I have the Condo Plan on file. 'Nice building, great location, good maintenance; I doubt you can go wrong here.
