1230 Cameron Avenue SW
Black Squirrel Apartments
Built as a concrete rental walk-up in 1959, this attractive brick-clad four-storey building was condo converted and thoroughly renovated in 2007 and 2008, although at May of 2010 the condo Plan wasn't yet registered, so the slow market likely delayed the project for two years.
Upgrades to the building included all new exterior windows and doors and two main-floor suites had nice patios dug out. Because there's no condo plan at the time of writing, I don't have details of the number of suites and their sizes, although there are 18 parking stalls, so perhaps there are 18 suites. Half of the stalls are tucked under the building, while the other nine are stalls at the building's west end. The curve of Cameron Avenue here makes for a wide boulevard, so there's a generous lawn-and-evergreens buffer between the building and the street. The trees and the building's brick cladding make for a quaint presentation. Add the wrap-around corner balconies and these are going to be some nice condominium homes upon completion.
