Cameron Courts

This concrete brick-clad six-storey building was completed in 1981 as a luxury condominium on a large lot by Hanen Investments Ltd., so was never a rental property. The building has a top-floor stairs-accessed social room with pool table and a lovely roof deck facing north for views and another facing south for sunshine. All four top-floor suites also have stairs to that level where each has a private roof deck.

The building's main floor has a large entry and also a large lobby, two suites, a storage locker for every suite and a nice little gym, although the hot tub has been mothballed. Parking is a mix of indoor and covered outdoor assigned common-property stalls. There's a single elevator.

The 24 suites here are all roomy or large with 16 of them offering two balconies or patios. Suites are on floors one through five, with only the common social room and roof patios on the sixth floor. Most suites have a wood-burning fireplace, while in-suite laundry and storage is standard. The three babies of the building are suites of 868 through 918 square feet., followed by 13 floor plans of about 1,015 square feet., and some of these are very spacious one-bedroom designs. The balance of the suites are larger still, ranging from 1,076 through 1,554 square feet. At least half these suites have been remodeled and upgraded from their original finishings. Most suites have sophisticated finishing in keeping with their almost-Mount-Royal location and the clientele who first bought into the building.

At the time of writing, June 2008, the building has been managed for many years by MCM Management, a reputable small-scale local condo management firm. Stability and long-term residents are trademark at Cameron Mansions. Exterior windows and doors are common property for maintenance and future replacement. I have the Condo Plan on file.
