Condo Directory Mount Royal and Lower Mount Royal Cameron Mansion

916 19th Avenue SW

Cameron Mansion

There are two types of suites at Cameron Mansion: large one-storey homes (only two), and VERY large two-storey homes (nine of these). The "stacked" townhouse idea works well, putting 11 homes on this lot and accomplishing flair with the bay windows, corner turret and brick cladding over the modern frame construction, plus giving every suite outdoor space, and for some a couple of outdoor spaces. The building went up in 1992 as a luxury condo, so was never a rental building. The condo plan refers to the suites as "maisonettes", which they certainly are. The two-level homes all have open two-storey portions at the front of their living areas, so they certainly feel like grand homes. Of course there's an elevator, regardless of the building being so small.

The main level has three two-storey homes at the front, each enjoying an evergreen-screened patio. Behind these are the elevator, mechanicals, storage lockers and indoor parking of assigned common-property stalls, with access off the lane. The second floor has the upper level of the front three suites, then two single-level suites at the back, which have large patios atop the garage. Six two-level homes are atop all of that, and several of these have terrific views over Lower Mount Royal, which slopes away down to 17th Avenue.

Floor areas start at 1,038 and 1,054 for the two single-level homes, followed by the smallest two-level home offering 1,105 sq. ft. After that the rest are larger still, topping out at 1,509 sq. ft. Some suites have been promoted as two-bedroom homes, but offer one bedroom plus a very large den/loft overlooking the living room, with access through that to the master bedroom suite. Those bedrooms all have large en-suites, with two-person jetted bathtubs and decorative tiling. Every suite has at least one wood-burning fireplace, and one I've seen has a second in the loft area. Hmm, I think I recall that heating is in-floor hot water, but correct me if I'm wrong.

Exterior windows and doors are common property for maintenance and future replacement. Mansion indeed.
