922 19th Avenue SW
Katriina (sometimes misspelled "Katrina")
Yes there are two "i"s in Katriina, which apparently is Finnish and Estonian for Katherine. This is one of those sturdy concrete four-storey walk-ups with simple designs. It was built in 1965 and condo converted by Red Trout Inc. in 2003, when most mechanicals and safety systems were upgraded, new windows were installed, attractive glass-panel railings were added to balconies and some nice stone and stucco finishing was added to the exterior. It appears that patio slider doors were not replaced, and patios were not dug out for the two front below-grade suites.
The 16 one-bedroom suites are mostly 576 sq. ft., but a couple are slightly smaller and one suite is only 524 sq. ft. to allow room on the lower floor for the small boiler room. Renovations opened the kitchens, of course, put in maple cabinetry, added laundry hookups under each bathroom counter for an all-in-one machine and included all new appliances other than the clothes washer/dryer. Most owners will have bought one of those, but at last report there's still a coin-op laundry on the lower floor. Buildings like this have no basement so there's no out-of-suite storage. Parking is assigned stalls around back.
Exterior windows and doors remain common property for maintenance and future replacement.
