Condo Directory Outer Communities South west close-in suburbs: Marda Loop through Windsor Park Valhalla Court

2440 on 34th Avenue, S.W., Marda Loop, Altadore

Valhalla Court

These 37 one and two-bedroom apartments were built in Marda Loop in 2003, fitted between 34th Avenue and 33rd and the off-ramp off north-bound Crowchild Trail. There's a good setback from 33rd avenue, though, and some lower floors face onto the sloped lawns of that setback, so hardly notice the traffic beyond.

The three-storey building's main feature is its courtyard design, giving most suites light from two ends, and creating a pleasant open-to-the-sky area in the middle where there's gazebo seating and gardens. The building is modern frame construction atop a concrete in-ground parkade that houses 38 titled stalls and six or seven common-property indoor visitor parking spots. Suite finishings were nicely modern with maple cabinetry, but not over the top, so don't expect hardwood, granite or fireplaces. All suites have in-suite laundries with storage space; 'no lockers outside of suites.

The location is right across the street from the new Marda Loop Safeway, and also steps from all the shops, cafes, video stores and other services of The Loop, which takes its name from the streetcar turnaround that once looped around these blocks. Exterior windows and doors at Valhalla Court are common property. I have the Condo Plan on file.
